New York Botanical Garden - Mario Batali's Edible Garden

Location: The Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden is the new home of "Mario Batali's Edible Garden".  Mario was joined by Bronx school kids and prepared themed garden beds and planting some of the first vegetables in garden, which are Mario's favorite ingredients to his Italian cuisine.

Throughout this summer, visitors to the Family Garden will be able to see a cornucopia of fresh food growing in Mario Batali's Edible Garden display beds.  Here are the vegetables and herbs growing in "The Otto Pizza Garden":
oregeno, onions, basil, tomatoes, eggplant, wheat, sweet peppers, hot peppers.

In "The Babbo Beets, Beans, Garlic and Greens Garden", are growing these herbs and vegetables:
escarole, endives, radicchio, fennel, parsley, chard, rosemary, broccoli, fava beans, shallots, beets, eggplant, dandelion greens, kale, lettuce, turnips.

In "Batali's Berry Patch Garden", there are northeast fruits, luscious, delicious strawberries and  red and black raspberries that climb on vines, delicious for making pies, jams.

When are you going back to Italy, Mario? Chow, baby!
